Abecedarian 1 - Home
by Ramy
Away from home, here I stand
Battling homesickness through friends
Complete loneliness, yet surrounded
day by day by the daily distractions of life
Enjoy the American Dream, they said
F that, all I see is an illusion
Guns, violence, deaths left and right
Home Sweet Home, please bring me back
I know, I know, I chose this life
Just under all this rage, gratefulness arises
Kicking her way through with obliviousness
Laughing and smiling, as giddy as a child
“Mom must be proud, that’s what matters”
New home, new souls, new life, I take it all
Orphan to the locals, they adopt me, shape me
Pleasant warmth to feel at home again
Questioning the chaos and the doubts.
Rest Ramy, you deserve to feel at peace
Such a chance to be here with them
Trouble will come but nothing I can’t fight,
undertake, survive and beat
Victory at last, I won the internal
war. Time to sign the armistice.
XOXO - Home this is for you,
Year three, one more to go
Zero regrets, I’ll be home again.
